Rimm allows corporates to monitor their network, server or applications either remote periodic check-ups or by an agent which can be installed any device that support Java Runtime Environment 1.5 or higher.
Remote Monitor
It's the heart of the RMON system which monitors the server pool at the configurable intervals and sends the status of the servers to the Event Manager.

Remote Monitoring provides the most effective surveillance of the different servers which can detect even the slightest change because it applies bit wise file change detection. This functionality would be of importance for monitoring Website content checking. It could monitor wide range of servers ranging from Web Servers [HTTP, HTTPS, etc], Mail Servers [SMTP, POP3, etc], Database Servers [Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, etc] and Application servers on Unix/Linux/Windows.
Remote Monitoring triggers the Event Manager for event logging of the servers and also alerts the Event Manager in case of any server failure by RMI Calls. Remote Monitoring also communicates with the Agents running on the individual servers to get snapshot of the critical system information about the Processor, CPU Utilization, Memory Usage, Disk Utilization and other system specific information.
Remote Monitoring can be configured as a cluster with the effective communication and co-ordination among the different geographically distributed clusters. It?s flexible and extensible which could be deployed in any fashion which appropriately suits the demands of the Production Environment. It is completely fault tolerant & it ensures effective management of the bottle-neck issues by strategizing the communication between the distributed clusters that brings up the server back to normalcy.
Agents
Agents are light weight processes running on the individual servers to get the system specific information like CPU Usage, Disk Drive Check, Disk Space Usage, File Check, Memory Usage, Process Information, Scheduled Task Check and other system specific checks.
Custom Plugins
RIMM itself been completely based on OSGI, allows user to develop custom plugins based on Java Programming Language.
